FUN FRIDAY // 10

Nine weeks ago, I introduced FUN FRIDAY & the gist is: I chose FUN as my one little word® this year, and I’ve decided that every Friday from now until the start of 2022, I’ll share some fun things that happened the week before.

DIY bouquet. I always always always always always always always pass up Trader Joe’s flowers. I didn’t on Sunday. I bought a few bunches and made my own bouquet. I have to say, I enjoyed it immensely. Arranging is fun. It took longer than I thought it would, but as I was doing it, my thinking became very intentional. Everything melted away, and I was arranging and thinking of my grandma - who has been in the hospital for almost 3 weeks, all my teacher-friends & essential workers feeling overwhelmed, and anyone who might be having a hard time.

It was not something I planned for my Sunday at its onset, but something I enjoyed so much, that it might be in the cards sometime soon again. Here’s the bouquet next to my computer space, making it all the more cheerful (baby blue vase from HomeGoods):

Nick Jonas on SNL. I can never stay up late enough to watch SNL in real time, but the seeing highlights throughout the week brings me so much joy. Nick Jonas hosted on Saturday and his episode was pretty darn funny. This skit called MURDER SHOWS is 100% ME ME ME when Tom’s not around - we were dying - and this BACHELOR PARTY skit cracked us up (it was catchy too!).

Doodling on my monthly spreads. So…my planner for 2021 is the third Passion Planner I’ve owned, and it’s the first time EVER that I’m using the monthly spread. I’ve been doodling in the boxes to memory keep a few highlights from each day. It’s not as sophisticated as some memory planning I’ve done in the past, but it sure has been fun & easy…not to mention good practice.

Children’s books podcasts. I’ve gotten very much into the idea that maybe some day I could be a children’s book author. Being an elementary school teacher feels a lot like market research, haa haa. I’m creative. I have ideas. Maybe I really could. :) …so I’ve begun to dabble a bit in what it would take. (My dreams for my future have so wildly matured and blossomed the past couple of years.) I’ve started listening to the podcasts PICTUREBOOKING and The Children’s Book Podcast to listen and learn, and we’ll see. I guess we’ll just see.
